I’m happy to announce that my book, Little Sister, a Family Memoir, has been nominated as a 2027 Great Read from Great Places by the North Dakota State Library. While I’m very honored to be nominated, I hope to be the winner! Then I will get to visit N.D. schools and libraries to talk about the book, and can go to the National Book Festival in Washington, D.C. next August.
I’m writing because I hope you will vote for your favorite nominee (me!) Voting can take place through December 31, 2026. Winning titles will be forwarded to the Library of Congress.
To vote, you must have a library card issued in North Dakota. Incidentally, September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, so if you don’t have a library card, this is a great time to “check out” your local library.
This is the first year that voting for Great Reads from Great Places is open to the public, according to Tammy Kruger. Literary specialist at the State Library. There are a couple ways to vote:
1) Tell your local library staff your pick(s).
2) Email Tammy Kruger — tlkruger@nd.gov — with your pick.
2) Use this Microsoft form to cast your vote(s).
